March 23rd marks World Optometry Day, a time to recognize the vital role of optometrists in vision care and eye health worldwide. It’s also a reminder of the importance of proactive eye care for all.
To celebrate, we’re sharing a sneak peek of our latest project—a complete redesign of the 7th floor of the SUNY College of Optometry’s University Eye Center.
Project Highlights:
- A modernized clinical teaching environment with three distinct exam room “pods,” each containing eight exam rooms and a central faculty space for enhanced learning and patient care.
- Improved wayfinding through strategic use of materials, color, and texture, guiding both staff and patients seamlessly.
- Decentralized waiting and check-out areas to reduce crowding and improve patient flow between intake, testing, and exams.
- A new 800-square-foot glass-enclosed eyewear retail space, designed with curved walls that add visual interest and encourage engagement.
- Renovated offices, testing rooms, and widened corridors for improved accessibility—essential for patients with low vision, walkers, or wheelchairs.
This transformation enhances both clinical education and patient experience, reinforcing the University Eye Center’s commitment to exceptional vision care.
