On October 12, the Queens Chamber of Commerce held its 2023 Annual Building Awards Gala, celebrating building projects throughout Queens, New York. Mosaic Pre-K Center at New York Hall of Science was among the honored projects.
Situated in the foreground of the New York Hall of Science, the client, community, and stakeholders demanded a world-class facility of architectural excellence. With programming focused on STEAM education, the building had to be an example of the benefits of advancement in these disciplines, critical to a sustainable future. The three-story, 33,320 square foot building is a concrete structure with highly efficient pre-cast concrete panels, glass curtain wall, and metal rainscreen envelope that exceeds energy code requirements. The interiors use a variety of materials that tie together common and classroom spaces with a soft yet vibrant color palette.
