Michael Freedman

Principal

Michael Freedman possesses an exceptionally broad range of expertise for architectural design and project delivery; it encompasses public and private, institutional and commercial project experience. His approach exemplifies the style of the firm by combining strong artistic and technical skills with conscientious service and attention to detail. His strengths include a broad and comprehensive knowledge of construction means and methods. He has a keen ability to identify potential challenges, as well as opportunities for augmenting a design. He is responsible for guarding against the erosion of conceptual ideas, while ensuring the project’s feasibility and constructability.  Michael serves as Principal-in-Charge of all the firm’s recent K-12 work.  Five of the firm’s designs for Pre-K-12 schools were featured in Building Great Schools for a Great City, by ORO Publications.

Joining MDSA in 2000, Michael was named Principal in 2014. As an experienced Principal and Project Manager, he brings expertise in the administration and oversight of all phases of a project from conceptual design through construction and occupancy. He excels in the critical role of managing, supporting, and coordinating the contributions of professional colleagues within a collaborative studio environment.
