Michael Freedman possesses an exceptionally broad range of expertise for architectural design and project delivery; it encompasses public and private, institutional and commercial project experience. His approach exemplifies the style of the firm by combining strong artistic and technical skills with conscientious service and attention to detail. His strengths include a broad and comprehensive knowledge of construction means and methods. He has a keen ability to identify potential challenges, as well as opportunities for augmenting a design. Michael plays a critical role in ensuring that the firm’s core mission is ultimately embodied in the physical realization of each project. He is responsible for guarding against the erosion of conceptual ideas, while ensuring the project’s feasibility and constructability. Michael serves as Principal-in-Charge of all the firm’s recent K-12 work. Five of the firm’s designs for Pre-K-12 schools were featured in Building Great Schools for a Great City, by ORO Publications.
Joining MDSA in 2000, Michael was named Principal in 2014. As an experienced Principal and Project Manager, he brings expertise in the administration and oversight of all phases of a project from conceptual design through construction and occupancy. He excels in the critical role of managing, supporting, and coordinating the contributions of professional colleagues within a collaborative studio environment.
Mr. Freedman earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the New York Institute of Technology. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and a Registered Architect in New York and New Jersey.
