SUNY College of Optometry 7th Floor Clinical Operations

Common Areas & Patient Flow

Designed in close collaboration with SUNY College of Optometry, the newly completed 7th Floor Clinical Operations reimagines the patient experience through thoughtful spatial planning, materiality, and light.

As patients arrive, they’re welcomed by a luminous LED backlit glass wall that announces the Primary Eye Care Center. Adjacent to this, a floating glass eyewear display and a custom solid-surface and quartzite reception desk create a refined and functional entry space.

The reception desk is strategically positioned with visual connections to the main entrance elevators and the expansive, light-filled waiting area to the south. Framed by circular columns, the desk anchors the space while maintaining openness and flow.

The waiting area, overlooking Bryant Park, is designed to maximize natural light. Integrated daylight sensors modulate electric lighting to ensure a consistently comfortable and energy-efficient environment throughout the day.
