Beckhard Richlan & Associates with Michael Szerbaty

As Architect of Record, MDSA worked closely with our clients, the NYC School Construction Authority and the design-build contractor, to design a 900-student elementary school.

The massing and use of materials in the design solution ensures that the new structure is contextually appropriate with the surrounding neighborhood. The large site accommodates multiple areas for outdoor activity, including tennis and basketball courts, a softball field, student gardens, seating areas, and two open-air spaces for the early childhood program.

Wrapped in a glass curtain wall with an integrated stained glass mural, the light-filled, double-height lobby is the building’s gateway to unique amenities such as specialized classrooms for dance, music, science and art, and 280-seat auditorium.
